Christmas Minis 2020 – Camp Milton

Are you ready to see all the beautiful families I photographed in November? Over two weekends, I met with eight families and I loved to see the dynamics of each one. Most of them had young children, and the parents and I had to get creative to get those smiles out, but we had a lot of fun.

The Lofgrans

The Donovans

The Garcias

The Carusos

The Daniels

The Bennetts

The Robinsons

The Lasseters

Thank you everyone for a wonderful time in the most wonderful time of the year! And I’m already thinking of ideas for next year’s Christmas minis….

2020 Christmas Minis Sign Up

One of my favorite traditions is to take family photos for Christmas cards in the fall. It’s a quick and sure way to document everyone’s growth. This year, I’ve been eyeing Camp Milton Historic Preserve for its rustic barn and and grassy fields. It’s a hidden gem and a great place for timeless photos.

When is it?

I will shoot the first two Saturdays of November before sunset. The weather will be cooler and it will give me time to get you your pictures before Thanksgiving. Here are the time slots (I will update them as they fill up).

3:00-3:20: A.L.

3:30-3:50: T.D.

4:00-4:20: S.A. (J.G.)

4:30-4:50: S.C.

3:40-4:00: L.L.

4:40-5:00: K.F.

Where is it?

Camp Milton Historic Preserve. 1225 Halsema Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32220.

How much is it?

Each session is $100 due at the time of the photoshoot.

What is included?

I will deliver 10 or more hi-res edited images to you by digital link within one or two weeks of your session. When you see your images, you will have a chance to provide feedback–most notes I am able to apply!

What COVID-19 precautions will you be taking?

I have chosen an area of the park (the far side of the barn) that not many people go to, so we will have no contact with crowds. While you do not need to wear a mask, I will wear a mask throughout the whole shoot. I have a contactless payment option (Venmo) that you can do at the session.

How do I sign up?

I will email you back to confirm that the spot is available and you got it. Thank you so much! I’m excited to take photos of your family!

P.s. Once you book your session, you should get on clothes collecting right away. I had a lot of shipment delays with my clothes that I selected for this shoot, and it was a little stressful. Here is a layout of the clothing I chose–it’s a good example of choosing a theme of colors that compliment each other, much like a family: different but harmonious.

My husband did not like wearing a Henley. He said it was too hipster. I thought is was nonsense. Hope you have fun getting it all together, and see you there!

Christmas Minis 2019

Every year, I choose a different location and experiment with different lighting for my Christmas Minis. Usually I do it outside, where the lush green of Florida winter does nothing to add to the Christmas/wintery feeling. This time, I did most of the mini sessions indoors against the bright bay window of my dining room. With enough decorations and overexposure of the window, you can just imagine cuddling by the sparkling tree on a cold, snowy day. However, the gem of each picture turned out to be the Christmas spirit brought by the families photographed. Their smiles were especially merry and bright this year!

And I did one mini-session outside this year. I love this tree at Treaty Oak Park in downtown Jacksonville. The branches seem to be a metaphor for this beautiful family and the closeness they share.

Thank you to everyone who made these sessions fun and meaningful. This is my favorite time of the year because it helps you remember what is important.

See you next year!

2019 Christmas Minis are Coming!

I think what every mom/wife wants for Christmas is a good family picture. You would be surprised how hard that is to deliver. With grumpy husbands, underwear-flashing daughters, raspberry-blowing sons, crying babies, it’s a miracle we come out alive. I guess I’m just talking about my family, but if you feel the same way, let me make it easy for you. Come to my indoor studio and put a star on the tree, throw some cotton snowballs, and hug each other while smiling (only naturally, of course). I promise you’ll come out of it alive and with beautiful memories of the ones you love most!

Christmas Minis 2018 – Losco Park

Among the spanish moss-covered trees, I had the privilege of photographing two beautiful families. I had props and music to make an festive atmosphere, but the thing that brought the most fun was climbing on the trees!

Glad to herald in the season by helping these families remember what is most important to them. Can’t wait to do this again next year!

Christmas Mini Sessions 2018

Imagine an Asian lady, balancing on top a wobbly apple crate, trying to cast lines of pom pom yarn over a tall branch while sweating profusely. It was a good idea in theory, but in reality, a lot of work!

I’ve been thinking all year of a new Christmas Mini Session set-up, and I kept coming to the idea of hanging things off of trees. When I came across photographs utilizing yarn-ball garlands, I thought I could put a Christmas spin on it and bring a little snow to sunny Florida.

One-on-One Portraits – Mother’s Day 2018

One day, as I was photographing a mother and child, I was amazed at how the intimate setting of one-on-one brought out different expressions and revelations of personality. It’s something raw and precious that I decided to pursue and capture.

Here are the results:

Enge Rosie Mother's Day Collage

My little girl is very floppy and silly when she is around me, but when I kiss her, she seems to achieve inner peace.

I love my boy’s default expression: indignant. He is my sweet child. It’s like I’m hugging a bag of sugar.

Heather Mother's Day Collage

Heather and I took turns taking pictures of each other and each other’s children, and it looks like we were happy little models, but there was actually a lot of bargaining and bribing that was involved – also, some blackened Oreo teeth.

Her daughter was jostling about and a lot of the photos was Heather trying to contain her, but I love the feeling of movement and life in these pictures.

Also, with the aid of a teddy bear, we have this quiet moment:

I love that you can see the bedroom window reflected in their eyes. This is where they sit sometimes to look outside together.

Ashley has three children who are so different from one another. Each child brings out a different side of her.

Her son is full of energy, but also so very sweet. The expression on Ashley’s face as he kisses her melts my heart.

Her youngest son spends a lot of time cuddling just like this with his mom. It’s like he never left the womb.

One thing about her and her daughter is they share the same kind heart.

This year, for Mother’s day, I’m offering one-on-one portrait sessions to capture the relationship you share with your loved one. If you choose the package that includes a print, here is the end result:

Barnwood Collage Frame with (3) 4×6 prints.

The best part about these sessions are they are in-home, so your child can feel more relaxed.
